Let me show you something –
I don’t like it.
Remember I told you I would try Whitney’s summer hair routine, and I did!.. twice! but the results were eh! And I know why! –
Before I go into ‘the why’ here is how my hair looks when I do ‘effortless’:
I also prefer it to look that way!
What I didn’t like – The Stretch
1. My hair is much finer than Whitney’s so even though my normal routine involves much of the same steps as Whitney, instead of twisting and stretching the hair I pretty much just do single braids in sections. I have pretty much trained my hair to be stretched, bet you didn’t know that you could do that, did ya? Well I believe that if you constantly stretch your hair, whether by using heat, rubber bands, wrapping the hair around your head, whatever method you choose, at some point your hair will become more susceptible to that stretch and it will get easier every-time.( At least this is how it has been for my hair)
My in the shower braid routine is all I need to stretch my fine strands so when I did my Bantu Knots and proceeded to stretch my twists  my hair looked less defined and very stretched and I don’t like that too much.
What worked for me
I loved that she did a bit of oil rinsing in her routine, which I have also incorporated, doing it in sections has also proven very effective as well. I am an avid shower detangler, using the shower stream and my fingers is a staple and to keep my hair together or organised, a braid instead of a twist/ bantu knot works for me. Oh and the T-shirt trick, love it, I never do that even though I see it all the time!
The conclusion is, the best routine for you is always your routine, it is pretty cool to watch and try some things but more than likely you will always go back to old faithful 🙂
