I remember when I was pregnant I used to say to myself if you could just find the energy to just co-wash every 2-3 days your hair will be ok.
I had to give myself that pep talk because honestly I didn’t have the mindset to deep condition weekly like I used to or to take care of my hair the way I should. I just had no interest, not to mention my energy level was pretty much the size of a peanut. So every three days I committed to my co-wash and braid routine. I would wear the braids the entire day on the day of my co wash and the next day after, if I was feeling really lazy I would just wear them until my next wash.
The point is, I am not a traditional ‘protective styler’, I’ve had box braids once in my life, an expensive weave that I removed the very next day and my mini twists are always a disaster.…. I will never be the type to braid or twist my hair for weeks and weeks, it will never happen.
With that said I cant deny the benefits I achieved from leaving my hair alone for a day or two within a 7 day period. If you are like me and you like letting your hair fly free try protective styling for part of the week and see if you see a difference in your hair over time. For me its like having the best of *that* world but only for a short period of time so its not so over the top.
Two days a week works for me and my hair likes it.
I saw this style on Pinterest, it is pretty cool and can easily be worn for 2 days
